Hello, my name is Jacob Hearl, and I am a Mid-level VFX Compositor & aspiring FX Artist.

My journey as a filmmaker and editor started at the age of ten after receiving a Flip camera for my birthday. After a few years of very basic videos, I began skateboarding, which greatly fueled my video-creating skills. Working hand-in-hand, I spent my high school years pushing myself to become better. Nearing the end of my time in high school, I began to venture into newer, more developed types of videos and found a great interest in documentaries and short films.

Entering college, I developed a deep obsession with visual effects and the workflows used in creating them. Since my initial introduction, I have spent innumerable hours on my own further increasing my skills and knowledge of programs, and continue to study the VFX pipeline to build a more complete understanding of how to tackle the complexities of VFX in the stages before post-production.

In addition to working as a freelance VFX Artist, during my free time I am involved with various freelance and personal projects (see Forerunner Studios page for more details!).
